High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT)

HIIT is training at a maximal or near maximal level for short periods followed by slightly longer periods of medium to low intensity, repeated for several rounds. HIIT is a highly efficient form of exercise, and has benefits such as increasing the rate at which your body utilizes oxygen during exercise (VO2 max), prolonged fat loss (even after exercise is done), improved cardiovascular health, lower blood pressure and lower blood sugar. HIIT can help efficiently burn calories while minimizing muscle loss (as compared to traditional “cardio” training).
